Customizing web sites for the global marketplace.
|
MANAGERS/WEB DESIGNERS This is a hands-on, "how-to" book that can help improve Web ROI, return on web investment. The premise is an old one: customize your offering to your customers' needs and they'll keep coming back to you. On the Web there are two types of customization involved: the product/service being offered, and the web site through which it is offered. Both need to be customized to the needs of target customers; focusing on one and overlooking the other will not provide for long term success. This book is focused on the latter: a theoretically-sound, empirically validated framework to customize web sites, that goes beyond simple translation or localization. Cultural Customization For Over 50 Countries The framework provided can help culturally customize web sites for over 50 countries, as well as specific cultural groups. Web ROI For Web ROI, the key issue is conversion rate, a measure of the site's ability to persuade visitors to take action (be it purchase, or otherwise). Conversion is the first step in building loyalty, repeat visits, and ultimately ROI. Improving conversion rates requires (1) an understanding of the cultural nature of the Web, and (2) a sound framework to take action. Both are provided in the book. Maximize Web ROI To mazimize Web ROI, there should be continuous data collection (see the Consulting Services web page for examples) to help diagnose problems, thwart threats, and grab opportunities.
